What are the benefits of breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is one of the most popular, female cosmetic procedures today. Our clients are looking to experience satisfaction through the following benefits:
- To enhance breast appearance through the use of implants
- To restore breast volume after surgical removal of the breasts secondary to breast cancer, breastfeeding, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations
- To correct mild sagging of the breasts
- To be able to wear a variety of clothes such as swimwear
- To be able to enjoy greater degrees of vitality and self-confidence
Am I a potential candidate?
The selection of a particular candidate for breast augmentation greatly depends on the amount of breast tissue, reasons for having the surgery, and realistic expectations about the procedure. Also, she must be free from bleeding or clotting problems, heart disorders, high blood pressure and other medical conditions that can alter the outcome of the procedure. All of these requirements will be discussed during your initial consultation.
What breast implant suits me best?
The choice on what implant to be used greatly depends on the look that the client is trying to achieve. You may also want to consider the fill material to be used. Prior to the surgery, gel implants are filled and may need larger incision. Saline implants (implants containing sterile saltwater) are available in both smooth and textured shells, and they provide fuller breast shape due the use of silicone. The decision of both the client and surgeon influences the final result of the procedure that’s why we give our clients a cooling off period for them to navigate through the decision making process. We believe that undergoing any kind of surgery is a very personal decision, thus you must give yourself enough time to think about it.
What happens during the procedure?
Before you have your breast implant procedure finalized, you have to sign a written consent and other paper works. Once all of these are settled, the procedure can now start. You will be brought to the operating room and will be put to sleep using general anesthesia. Your surgeon will first clean your breasts with an antiseptic solution to prevent infection. He or she will now make an incision under the breast crease, around the areola, or in the armpit – all of these incision techniques will be discussed during the initial consultation in which you are given enough time to choose your desired location. Your desired implant will now be inserted into the breast pocket and your surgeon will assess correct placement. The method of implant insertion and positioning depends upon the preference of the client and surgical recommendations. After correct placement is verified, your surgeon will now close the incision using absorbable sutures. A sterile dressing will be applied to protect the wound.
The surgical procedure is completed in less than two hours. It facilitates rapid recovery that generally results in minimal bruising, bleeding, scarring, and tolerable pain. Patients can resume normal activities in approximately 3 days. However, activities that require lifting the hand over the head and heavy lifting are prohibited.
Healing from Breast Augmentation Surgery
In general, the discomforts related to the procedure are usually tolerable. Pain management is achieved via mild oral pain-killers. Your surgeon will give you instructions on how to care for the surgical wound before you get discharged. You will return for your follow-up appointment with your doctor to assess the progress of your recovery.
What are the known risks?
Studies of saline breast implants and silicone gel breast implants among first-time augmentation patients showed that they can experience at least one local complication such as infection, pain, hardening of the breasts, or the need for a secondary surgery.
All breast implants will eventually break in 10 to 15 years as they are not designed to last a lifetime. Your surgeon will teach you on how to properly assess your breasts for any signs of leakage or abnormalities.
How much is the cost of breast augmentation?
