Fuller and bigger breasts are more pleasing to look at. The size of one’s breasts is a very private matter: it is really up to you whether you are satisfied with it or you elect to improve it. Over the years, we have improved our medical facilities and equipped it with the latest technology to suit your cosmetic needs. Our team of cosmetic surgeons, registered nurses and medical staff are hand-picked based on their accreditations, experience and work ethics. For your convenience, all your appointments with us are scheduled at your most flexible time to avoid disruption in your normal routine. We offer superior-quality and the most stable breast implants on the market to prevent any complications related to the procedure.
What can a breast augmentation give you?
Breast augmentation or enlargement can improve balance in your body with breasts that fit your overall shape and size. Many of our patients do it to improve self-esteem, gain confidence and for their own satisfaction. Some women opt for breast augmentation after pregnancy to correct the reduction in volume after weight changes and breastfeeding. There is no real age limit to the procedure, but you must be in good overall health before you engage in the procedure.
What happens during the procedure?
After you signed the consent form and other paper works, you will be brought to the operating room. Your surgeon will meticulously prepare the operative field so that everything is order. A certified anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia to induce sleep and minimize discomforts. The surgeon will now cut through your breasts to create a pocket for the implant. There are two main options for where the implants are to be placed: between the breast tissue and the muscles of the chest, or behind the pectoralis muscle. Each placement and incision techniques has its advantages and disadvantages which your surgeon will discuss during the initial consultation. Your surgeon will advise on the best option for you and answer all your questions in a detailed manner. The surgical wound will be closed using absorbable sutures and a sterile dressing will be placed to protect it. You will be brought to the recovery room for observation. If no untoward symptoms are observed, you will be discharged after a day or two. It is best to arrange for someone to drive you home and to stay with you at home in the first week after the procedure.
What signs and symptoms to watch out for?
All cosmetic procedures have its risks and complications. After your surgery, it is normal for the surgical wound to become swollen, red, and with tolerable pain. The discomforts are usually mild and can be managed by oral pain-killers. If you experience the following signs and symptoms, consult with your doctor immediately:
- Bleeding (hemorrhage)
- Breast sensation changes
- Hardening of the breasts (capsular contracture)
- Itchiness, rashes and difficulty of breathing (signs of allergic reaction to anesthesia)
- Palpable or visible implants
- Pus draining in the wound
- Reopening of the wound (dehiscence)
- Severe bruising
Early detection can help prevent worsening of symptoms. If the implants rupture, you may need a secondary surgery to replace it with new ones or to have it removed. Your surgeon will teach you and give you homecare instructions for a quick recovery.
How will I care for my newly operated breasts at home?
In general, your surgeon or registered nurse will give you the following advice:
- Avoid strenuous activities especially those that require heavy lifting.
- Change dressings and perform wound care as advised.
- Conduct breast examination on a regular basis.
- Continue taking your antibiotics and pain medications as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not touch the surgical wound with dirty hands to avoid infection.
- Increase your intake of foods rich in protein.
- Return to your doctor for follow-up in order to assess your breast health and the condition of your implants.
- Wear a support bra or specialized breast garment to avoid unnecessary movements of the breasts.
Do the results last a lifetime?
Breast augmentation may offer long-term solution to your unbalanced and underdeveloped breasts. However, breast implants need to be replaced after 10 to 15 years because of the possibility of rupture. After the surgery, the results are immediately visible. When the swelling finally subsided, its final appearance is noticeable. Talk to your surgeon about the normal and abnormal breast appearance as you recover from the surgery.
Are there health issues related to the procedure?
Breast augmentation is one of the safest and most performed cosmetic surgeries in the world. Having breast implants does not increase your risk for breast cancer.
