Every year, thousands of women undergo a variety of cosmetic procedures to alter their body appearance. One can benefit from undergoing drastic changes by having a boost in their self-regard and improving their image. One of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the world is breast augmentation. Women with breast implants reported that fuller and rounder breasts do not only make them feel good about themselves, but it can also improve their relationship with their partners aside from its appealing look.
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure which involves the use of breast implants to enhance the appearance of the breasts. It is performed to restore lost breast volume due to the normal process of ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight changes. It is also used for reconstructive purposes such as rebuilding surgically removed breasts in the treatment of breast cancer. The results are long-term and are very natural. Once you had the procedure, no one will notice that you actually had breast implants.
Breast augmentation is considered as one of the safest cosmetic procedures in the world. We put emphasis on the safety of our patients by using only the most stable and superior-quality implants on the market. Before engaging in any cosmetic procedure, our highly trained surgeons and registered nurses work hand in hand to properly assess our patients. This includes conducting a brief medical history to determine different medical conditions that can alter the outcome of the procedure, and your desired goals and breast contour.
To achieve optimum breast appearance, your surgeon will ask you regarding the following:
Your surgeon will help you and guide you through navigating the decision-making process. This will ensure that both of you will come up with the most appropriate decision for the procedure.
Breast augmentation alone cannot correct severe breast sagging; a separate procedure called breast lift can be done in conjunction with breast augmentation. You will need to undergo a secondary surgery in case of implant rupture, or after 10 to 15 years to prevent complications. Strict monitoring of the breast implants is necessary so that early intervention can be done in case of rupture.
You will be asked to sign a written consent and other paper works prior to the procedure. After all of these are settled, you will be brought to the operating room. A certified anesthesiologist will introduce a general anesthesia to put you to sleep. After it has taken effect, your surgeon will create an incision (the location and technique of incision are discussed during the initial consultation) for the implants to be inserted. The surgeon will now place the implants in the surgically-created pockets and will verify its placement. Once in its proper position, your surgeon will close the wound using absorbable sutures. A sterile dressing will be applied to protect the wound. Sometimes, your surgeon will insert surgical drains to remove body fluids that may accumulate inside the wound. You will be observed in the recovery room for the first 48 hours. It is best to arrange for someone such as a family or friend to watch over you and drive you home.
Under normal circumstances, mild swelling, redness, bruising and minimal pain are present. Other discomforts are usually manageable by mild pain-killers. If you experience one of the following signs and symptoms, consult with your doctor immediately:
Unfortunately, all cosmetic procedures except those that restores the function of a certain body part are not covered by your Medicare or other health insurance. Please review your health insurance policy or talk to one of our customer service agents for a free estimate. In general, average costs will depend on your surgeon’s fee, hospital fee, pre-operative and post-operative medications, type of implant and anesthesia, and garments used.
